Exploring Porlock Weir

Porlock Weir is a charming coastal village located approximately 1.5 miles west of Porlock, Somerset. It’s renowned for its historic harbour, pebble beach, and scenic surroundings. The beach, interspersed with old and failing wooden groynes, is particularly appealing for long exposure photography. These structures, combined with the pebbly shoreline and dynamic skies, offer endless creative possibilities. The South West Coast Path runs through the area, providing additional vantage points and compositions.

Getting There and Parking

By Car: Porlock Weir is accessible via the A39 through Minehead or across Exmoor from Dulverton on the B3223, then via Exford and the Porlock scenic toll road.

Parking: There is a pay-and-display car park for about 30 cars right next to the harbour. This provides convenient access to the beach and surrounding areas.

Public Transport: The nearest mainline train station is Taunton, from which you can take a bus to Minehead and then change for Porlock. Seasonal coaches also run to Minehead, with bus connections to Porlock Weir. ​discoverporlock.co.uk
