  • Receiving an email from the owner of an oil-spilling, sea-polluting shipwreck of being “irresponsible” (oh, the irony!).

My story of 2024 is best watched on the video below, It’s jammed packed with all of the afformetioned.

In this video, “Highlights of 2024: Best Photographs and Stories,” I share my favorite images and the fascinating stories behind them from an unforgettable year. 2024 has been incredible for me, with standout moments including becoming a Nikon Partner and receiving my YouTube Play Button for reaching an amazing 100,000 subscribers. Not too shabby for a cheesy-grinning big-boned 64-year-old! Highlights of the video include upsetting people with my controversial style of Fine Art Photography, although I call it pushing boudaries! Did I really go too far? There’s also the peculiar drama of being accused by the owner of an oil-spilling, sea-polluting shipwreck of being “irresponsible” (oh, the irony!). Plus, I visit Iceland for the first time and showcase my favorite photographs of the year.

Below are a list of images where the stories on the video originated from.

MY FAVOURITE

In this video, I drove 10 hours to arrive at my favourite location for landscape photography. I crashed on the route, and I was trapped there!

From the 2024 Highlight video

I broke my BRAND NEW NIKON Z8! in an OUTRAGEOUS STORM!

Regrettably, disaster struck on the first night while capturing a captivating timelapse of the night skies. A powerful gust of wind toppled my camera and tripod, rendering the Nikon Z8 non-functional. Although the damage was relatively minor, with only slight harm around the eyepiece and a small crack in the body, the camera’s screen and electronic viewfinder refused to power up.

Icelend in Winter PT I

In this video entitled, Iceland in Winter, Landscape Photography Iceland, I capture landscape images at several stunning locations in Iceland.

Icelend in Winter PT II

Join me as I explore the breathtaking landscapes of Iceland in this second installment of a two-part series! Despite battling a lingering cold, I ventured out to capture some stunning images at iconic and some lesser known locations in the southern region of Iceland, guided by local photographer Halli.

OUTSTANDING BEAUTY in BORING locations – Fine Art Photography

I capture gorgeous Fine Art Landscape pictures from a boring location in this video.

FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY The Swimming Pool

I had been waiting for an opportunity to visit this location for over three years. It’s an incredible sea-filled swimming pool in Devon. Visiting this location was all about timing. A super-high tide was a must. Whilst the time of day didn’t matter much, the weather needed to be conducive to my fine-art photography style. Thankfully, all the stars aligned, and every box ticked!

Fine Art Landscape Photography Pin Mill – MY BEST YET!

In this video, I create my best fine art landscape images at Pin Mill and discuss the importance of learning to see differently! I stand by this statement: “If you become proficient at post-processing, you’ll learn to see differently.” In this video, I demonstrate my theory using the camera’s point of view.

Fine Art Photography Challenge – I LOVE THIS LOCATION!

Returning to Pin Mill was a deliberate choice to challenge myself to create new fine art compositions from fresh subjects. Personally, I’m delighted with the outcome and hopeful that I’ve illustrated effective methods for identifying captivating subjects and locations. Did I achieve my objective? I leave that judgment to you!

This place is INCREDIBLE – The Cobb Lyme Regis Landscape Photography

This was the final location of my recent road trip to England’s Devon and Cornwall area. Saving the best until last is a well-known statement, and this was the best location I frequented during my trip. Its beauty defies words.

INSANE SUNRISE – A real once in a lifetime event WOW

In this video, I witnessed an incredible event—a sunrise like no other. It was all captured at West Bay, Dorset. It was an amazing morning for landscape photography.

Misty Woodlands PERFECT WOODLAND PHOTOGRAPHY DAY!

I capture some genuinely stunning misty woodland photography in this video at two incredible locations. Last week, I revisited a fantastic woodland spot in Derbyshire, a place I had photographed before but always felt could deliver even better results under the right conditions. And today, those conditions finally arrived: perfect light and atmospheric mist. It was the dream setup for any photographer!

My Best Photography 2024

Try FINE ART Photography here! It’s so simple! New Brighton Lighthouse

For those who love photographing lighthouses, this is a must-visit location. Free parking is available just 50 yards from the lighthouse, making it incredibly convenient—you could even walk there in high heels (figuratively speaking, of course). It’s a stunning spot to shoot at sunrise and sunset, offering endless composition possibilities whether the tide is in or out.

I GOT WIPED OUT – Stormy Conditions

I headed to Cromer Beach in Norfolk with the goal of photographing the groynes along the seafront in a Fine Art style. However, that day was not ideal for such shots. The conditions were rough, with strong winds, rain, and a high tide that covered the groynes I intended to capture.

Exploring Glencoe’s Three Sisters. A little dangerous but worth it!

I explore Glencoe’s mountain range called the Three Sisters in this video. Things got a little hairy, but the results speak volumes.

What’s the MACH LOOP REALLY LIKE?

In this video, I reveal what the Mach Loop is truly like, including the highlights and the parts you never see!

FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY – The Old Pier

I came across an old pier during my recent trip to the Isle of Bute. Whilst the scene might look a mess and chaotic in form, for us Fine Art Landscape Photographers, it’s gold!
