Landscape Photography Lake District

In this 2 part video, I capture the best sunset I have ever seen. Complimented by a mountain view to die for… WOW!

Lake District National Park. Landscape Photography over 5 Days. In this video, I show not 1 but 36 Images. My best video to date! Part 1 of a 2 part video series.

Lake District Landscape Photography

My very good friend Pete and I embarked on a landscape journey to the Lake District National Park last week. Thie intention was to photograph as many newly discovered (by us) areas and a few classic areas too. I mean, why not!

As you could imagine the weather was very hit and miss throughout the week. It was the end of January so we didn’t expect anything different.

PART 1

Part II

We were based just outside of Keswick which is on the northerly border of the Lake District. In fact, the amazing stately home was uniquely sat on a hill that had views north to Scotland, east to Cumbria and south to the Lakes. How’s that for location, location, location. We stayed in an amazing cottage on the grounds of the stately home. I’ll leave contact info on the site too.

In this video, You’ll see me taking pictures on a freezing cold morning. The Jetty was an amazing find. We discovered a waterfall covered in bright green moss. It looked amazing! Bettering that we discovered a rock/cliff that offered some of the best views in the Lakes I have ever seen.

If this wasn’t enough, on our way home the sky’s just lit up. It’ was like the mountain was on fire. One word… WOW!

Where is this

The waterfall was at Thirlmere Lake. Google maps “Thirlmere Lake” and you’ll find the waterfall on the opposite side of the lake to the A591 on the Wythburn side. If you click this link in a web browser it should take you straight there. https://goo.gl/maps/xuNGg4dkS5H2 There is a small amount of parking there too. A mile and a half away from here you’ll find the big rock I was stood on at the beginning of my video. A stunning day out! Hope this helps

Hi Gary,

I watch many photography vlogs and videos on YouTube, but rarely do I see videos of the quality you produced while in the Lake District. From photography to drone work to music choice, what a superb finished couple of videos and best of all what amazing images you managed to capture!
I just had to say very well done and thank you for the inspiration Gary!!
Kind regards
Tim

I love your photos and the sympathetic way how you produce your videos. Always in a good mood, great.
It would be very interesting to see a video about how you do the post editing. Some of your photos have such a wonderful expression.
For example this http://garygough.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Thursday-005.jpg
or this http://garygough.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Friday-006.jpg
But if you rather do a journey, I’m glad as well (as long you vlog it :-)) Thanks for sharing all your content.

greetings from south Germany

Hello Gary,

As I’m planning a trip this summer to the Lake District, I’m viewing a number of your vlogs to get some inspiration. The vlog at Thirlmere Lake was one the vlogs with some stunning pictures and views. Because I don’t have a drivers license I have to sort out if I can get as close as possible by public transport. The link you described above doesn’t work. Therefore I would like to ask you if you could give me a specific description how to get on the rock were you had the magnificent view. maybe you do have the coordinate.

I would very appreciate your help,

Kind Regards

Hi Martin, Head to Dob Gill Car Park (https://goo.gl/maps/q6wJYhTEtrdQYpe67). Sadly, the road is closed atm so you’ll have to walk to the car park Steel End Car Park https://goo.gl/maps/C469gVMUhS1BNoKfA
It’about a 15 minute walk. It’ll be on the left as you walk to Dob Gill.
Hope this helps

Hi Gary,

Just viewed you’re vlog of the secret waterfall in the Lake District. I’ll go on holiday to the Lake District in July and will go to this magnificent waterfall. Did you stack the selfies to be sure everything is pin sharp? Or did you focus on the rock you were standing on?
Do you have any additional tips for me I will stay 4 days in Ambleside and 4 days in Keswick. ( Lone tree at Buttermere) and the last 2 days in Penrith.

Kind Regards

Martin
